CARMELITA HARTOTO

The Chairwoman of Asian Shipowners’ Association & The Federation of ASEAN Shipowners’ Associations

Carmelita Hartoto is a prominent figure in Indonesia’s and Asia’s maritime sector. Since 2011, she has served as Chairwoman of the Indonesian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA), becoming the first woman to lead the organization. In November 2023, she was elected Chair of the Federation of ASEAN Shipowners’ Association (FASA) for the 2024–2026 term. Further solidifying her influence, she was appointed as the 34th President of the Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA) for the 2024–2025 period in May 2024. Her leadership across these three major organizations underscores her dedication to advancing the shipping industry at both national and regional levels.

The commitment of FASA/ASA in supporting the economic growth of each of its members remains steadfast, ensuring that the maritime sector continues to be a driving force for regional and global prosperity. By promoting sustainable business practices, enhancing operational efficiency, and embracing technological advancements, we can collectively create an ecosystem where maritime enterprises thrive and contribute to economic development.

However, achieving these goals requires the full support and engagement of all stakeholders—governments, industry leaders, financial institutions, and maritime professionals alike. I believe this forum presents a valuable opportunity to address the pressing challenges faced by the industry, from regulatory compliance and environmental sustainability to digital transformation and supply chain resilience. It is our hope that through open discussions, strategic collaborations, and forward-thinking initiatives, this gathering will empower maritime entrepreneurs to play a greater role in driving regional and global economic growth.”
